Roctane Probiotic Plus Capsules

FAQ

Why do I need probiotics?

The GI system plays an important, yet often-underestimated role in athletic performance. (Fun fact: Did you know that the number of microbes residing in the gut equals or exceeds the number of cells that make up the human body?) Not only does your GI system convert the food you eat into fuel, it also serves as the first line of defense against invading pathogens so you can stay healthy.

However, frequent bouts of high-intensity exercise can damage the gut’s integrity, which opens the door to harmful bacteria. Nutritional interventions, including probiotic supplementation, can provide protection from exercise-induced damage and safeguard the athlete from illness and infection. As we like to say, happy gut, happy athlete! (Fun fact #2: The gut plays a huge role in mood regulation and brain health, and many of your neurotransmitters are produced in the gut. Dysfunction in the gut can lead to mood disturbances including depression.)

How many strains are in ROCTANE Probiotic Plus Capsules? Which strains of probiotics are included?

We have two powerful, spore-forming probiotic strains in our formula, which is backed by rigorous clinical testing. These strains are tough enough to survive the harsh conditions of the stomach in order to make it to the GI tract where they go to work.

  • Lactospore (Bacillus coagulans MTCC 5856) – produces lactic acid and short chain fatty acids (which feed immune cells in the GI tract), promotes defenses against unfavorable bacteria, supports immune responses, and promotes a healthy inflammatory response.
  • DE 111 (Bacillus subtilis)—promotes growth of beneficial microflora, is clinically shown to reduce inflammation response in athletes during heavy training, helps maintain digestive health and function, and may assist with reductions in body fat while supporting healthy weight management.

What does the “Plus” stand for in Probiotics Plus?

We’ve included two other important ingredients in our formula: ginger root and licorice root.

  • Ginger Root: Alleviates symptoms of nausea and vomiting, Eases symptoms of gastrointestinal distress, Aids digestion by stimulating the movement of food through the digestive tract.
  • Licorice Root is beneficial for digestion (aids motility, or movement of food through digestive tract) and helps soothe irritation and inflammation of the digestive tract.

How do I know if I’m deficient in probiotics?

Simple blood tests are the best way to evaluate your levels of specific micronutrients. Speak with your primary care physician or schedule a test with 3rd party biomarker testing services, such as InsideTracker to get yours checked.

Will I achieve benefits if I don’t take them regularly?

For best results, it’s advisable to take daily for a week or more, especially during heavy training periods or when traveling.

Do I need to refrigerate Probiotic capsules? If not, why not?

No. The strains we use (Bacillus coagulans MTCC 5856 and Bacillus subtilis DE111) are a special spore-forming type of probiotic, which are resistant to heat, humidity, and can withstand the harsh acidity of the stomach to germinate in the small intestine where they go to work.

How do I use along with my other sports nutrition?
