What type of protein is in Recovery Drink Mix?
The protein used in the Recovery Drink Mix is Whey Protein Isolate. It is derived from dairy and is more pure than other forms (about 90% pure protein). It also has the highest BV (Biological Value), which is the measure of how efficiently food protein, once absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, can be turned into body tissues.
When should I consumer Recovery Drink Mix?
We recommend consuming Recovery Drink Mix within 1-3 hours (glycogen repletion window) after exercising.

Yes, milk can be mixed with Recovery Drink Mix. The combination of milk and Recovery Drink Mix can help increase glycogen stores by adding extra carbohydrates and protein.

Can I use Recovery Drink Mix during exercise?
Recovery Drink Mix was formulated to aid recovery after exercising. However, some of our athletes have been successful when using Recovery Drink Mix during exercise. It is made up of mostly carbohydrates but also contains whey protein which is more easily digestible than most proteins. Note that the caloric content is much higher (250cal per 16 fl. oz. of water) and this can increase stomach bulk. We recommend practicing with this concept before using it on race day.
Why does the product contain Arginine?
Arginine is a conditionally essential amino acid, meaning that, when consumed, spare the need to use an essential amino acid for their synthesis. Arginine is glycogenic in that it can be converted into glucose. It can also be broken down by various metabolic processes to produce energy. It has even been shown to aid the body in growth hormone secretion. Growth hormone has been shown to: increase muscle mass, promote lypolisis, increase protein synthesis, strengthen the immune system, and promote glucogenesis.
Why does the product contain Glutamine?
Glutamine is a conditionally essential amino acid, meaning that, when consumed, spare the need to use an essential amino acid for their synthesis. During intense aerobic and anaerobic activity the immune system can become weakened. Glutamine can help promote a healthy immune system. About 60% of plasma glutamine levels come from using other amino acids and carbon intermediates located in the muscle. Intake of dietary glutamine can help maintain these levels. It can also help reduce the effects caused by overtraining in athletes.
